INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT
The Right Investment Strategy Starts With You
Your goals, financial circumstances, and priorities shape how we invest your money. Each strategy we select has a specific job to do, chosen with risk, taxes, and costs in mind. Once we agree on the approach, we put it into action and manage it for you, making adjustments as your needs change.
YOUR TIME BACK
Researching funds, watching markets, and deciding when to make changes takes real time and attention. We take on those ongoing responsibilities so you can focus on your work, your family, and everything else you’d rather be doing.
THE RIGHT TOOLS, CAREFULLY CHOSEN
We evaluate a wide range of investment options, from low-cost index funds to specialized managers, and use what fits your needs and is worth its cost. You get the benefit of that research without having to do it yourself.
MONEY READY WHEN YOU NEED IT
Whether you’re drawing retirement income or planning a major purchase, we position investments around your cash needs, helping reduce the need to sell at an unfavorable time or realize avoidable taxable gains.
how we work together
You Set the Direction. We Do the Work.

OUR INVESTMENT DISCIPLINE
SMART Investing™
SMART Investing™ is the set of principles we use to build and manage your portfolio. Each one guides a different kind of decision, from how your money is divided to whether a change is worth making.
Strategic Allocation
Each part of your portfolio has a job: some investments are meant to grow, others to provide stability or income. We decide how much to give each role, then choose investments suited to it.
Manage Risk
Beyond normal market ups and downs, we look for risks that are easy to miss: too much in one stock or sector, investments that tend to fall together, or holdings that are hard to sell when you need cash.
Active Oversight
We regularly review your allocation, individual holdings, and any outside managers, asking whether each still fits its role and is worth its cost. Reviewing doesn't mean trading; often the right answer is no change.
Rebalance with Discipline
When a change may be warranted, we weigh its potential benefits against trading costs, tax consequences, and the effect on your overall risk before deciding whether to act.
Tax-Aware Investing
We consider where investments are held, the gains or losses that trades may create, and how account withdrawals affect taxes. Our focus is on tax-aware decisions over time, not just the current year.
YOUR INVESTMENT POLICY STATEMENT
Why Your Strategy Is in Writing
Every investment management client receives an Investment Policy Statement (IPS) that we review and agree on together. Here’s why having it in writing matters.
What keeps us on course when markets get rough?
Markets will test any investment strategy. Your IPS gives us an agreed reference when fear or excitement runs high, helping keep short-term emotions from driving long-term investment decisions.
How do I know my wishes are being followed?
Your IPS documents your objectives, risk guidelines, and any preferences or restrictions. It's the standard we manage your portfolio against, and something we can review together anytime.
Would my family understand the plan?
Your strategy isn't kept in anyone's head. Your IPS provides a written explanation of how your money is managed and why, which you can share with your spouse or other family members if you choose.
For accounts held at Charles Schwab, your investments remain in your name, with account statements provided directly by Schwab, independently of RFG.
Let's Talk About Your Investment Strategy
If you’re wondering whether your portfolio still fits your goals, considering a change in advisors, or simply want a second opinion, we’d be glad to talk. In a complimentary introductory meeting, at our Toledo office or virtually, we’ll learn about your situation, answer your questions, and see whether working together makes sense.
